The thing I love most about the Bakersville, NC area is the rural setting and being surrounded by all of nature's beauty, being tucked away from the hustle and bustle of big cities, but having access to them within 30 minutes. There is something to be said for slowing down, taking life easy and enjoying your surroundings.

We enjoy going to Spruce Pine to have dinner at the several restaurants they have to offer as well as in Burnsville. One of our favorites is the Knife and Fork in Spruce Pine. They offer a farm to table dining experience and have won numerous awards.

Johnson City, TN is within 30 minutes and offers an abundance of restaurant choices.  A nice day trip to have lunch or dinner in Asheville is enjoyed by all.  Ingles grocery stores are within 30 minutes of Beech Creek.  For those needing a Starbuck's fix, Ingles in Burnsville can accommodate.  There are small grocery and convenience stores close by for staple items.  In Johnson City, 30 minutes from Beech Creek, there numerous grocery stores and produce stands.

Medical care in Johnson City is wonderful.  The Johnson City Medical Center is a level 1 trauma center and therefor equipped to handle any emergency.  Speaking from personal experience, every physician in each specialty we have had experience with is superb.

When we bought the property, coming from the Georgia coast, we were immediately drawn to the beauty of the area, the temperate climate and lack of humidity.

The Bakersville area is still like a step back in time.  It is rural, mostly undeveloped and creates a simple, easy way of life. We have that small town feel but can be to Interstate 26 heading East or West in 18 miles.

A few other things I can mention are the people that have lived in this area all of their life are the kindest, hardest working, most helpful people you will ever meet.  We opened our hearts to them as they welcomed us to their area and have formed lasting relationships, which we value.

Lake Watauga in Butler, TN is one of the most beautiful lakes you will find.  It is within 30-45 minutes of Beech Creek. There on the lake, pontoon boats are available to rent and fishing guides are available for hire.  It is serene, quiet lake which is owned primarily by the Tennessee Valley Authority, therefor only 20% is owned by individuals.  Banner Elk and Boone are available for winter snow activities. Dollywood and Pigeon Forge are within 2 hours as is Harrah's Casino in Cherokee.  The Bristol Motor Speedway is within an hour for those racing fans.  The Penland School of Crafts is located in Spruce Pine and is a world renowned  art school.  Subsequently, folks have stayed in the area and offer lessons in pottery, black smithing, glass blowing, fibers and other medium.  Fly Fishing areas are abundant for those interested.  Gem mining opportunities are available near Burnsville and Spruce Pine.

The things I love about Asheville are the amazing number of artisan restaurants, the city nightlife, the not 1 not 10 but 17 farmers markets, the dozens of microbreweries and the proximity to the Biltmore Estate, Blue Ridge Parkway and Smoky Mountain National Park.

We love to eat at the following restaurants: Salsa's, Limones, La Cantina, Moe's Original Barbeque and the several dozen other restaurants within a 10 minute radius of the home.

Grocery stores are plentiful, with Ingles, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, The Fresh Market and many weekly farmers markets.

When we bought the property, we were drawn to the family friendly atmosphere of the neighborhood, the school district, the proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the beauty of east Asheville.

The Asheville area is great for recreation or just watching the people go by. There is always something new to do, such as hiking in the nearby national forests, cruising the parkway, walking at the Biltmore Estate, trying new restaurants, checking out the local music scene, seeing new craftsmen and artists, etc.

A few other notable aspects about the home are: The WNC Nature Center, public soccer fields, Biltmore Estate Blue Ridge Parkway, Asheville Mall and a plethora of other activities and amenities are all within a 5 minute drive (less is many cases) of the home.

We love to go downtown and try the newest microbrewery or restaurant and watch the generally entertaining people, from the man on stilts to the giant uni-cyclist to the washboard bands on the street corners... always something new to see.

While we all like different things, we most like to hike and bike the parkway, or just drive along it to catch the sunsets or sunrises. Less than 5 minutes from the house are some of the most spectacular sunsets around.

Our neighborhood is great for recreation, is family friendly and has one of the lowest crime rates in the city of Asheville and is easily walk-able, bike-able and, hosts the lushest forest in east Asheville, an Historic Municipal Golf Course, is in the best school district in the city (Reynolds) and is within minutes of downtown, the Biltmore Estate, the Asheville Mall and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Asheville has everything anyone could ever want or need! We love being 'out a little' to enjoy the green and privacy, but know we can be at a grocery store in 5 minutes. This location is ideal.

Our neighborhood boasts private, quiet country living. Neighbors are there if you need them and would always help out. We're only minutes from Rte. 40 and 19/23, so we love the easy access to Asheville, but with the tranquility of our mountain refuge. Only a few minutes to the Outlet Mall, too!

We love to eat on our breezy, shady screened porch, or Frank's Roman Pizza on Sardis Rd, as well as Pappa's & Beer (near K-Mart by the Outlet Mall). Of course, our kids and grandsons are our neighbors, so we picnic often.

For grocery stores, we like Food Lion and now a super new Ingles on Sand Hill Road and 19/23 (5 min away). We like to shop at the Asheville Outlets - Dillard's is our favorite shop - what a bargain!

Our favorite hang-out is in our woods. Free camping with mountain views! Sunshine Herbs & Vitamins in West Asheville is where we work, and our daughter does, too. We love hiking - so many places in Candler. We also love the NC Arboretum.

When we bought the property, we were drawn to the lush, green cove with serene privacy. Since we're in a business where we serve the public, we were looking for a place of quiet refuge.

What we love about the area is the location - out but close to everything! We are just 1 hr from our cabin in Tuckasegee, and 20 minutes to our shop in Asheville.

Our hobbies include hiking our trails and enjoying the view, gardening - mostly flowers - property has tons of perennials like early blooming daffodils, reg. and late blooming, so we have daffodils from Feb to April.  Creeping Phlox that cover our front bank and many different flowers that bring such enjoyment! We love watching our birds, golf, boating and fishing, and we also love swimming at lake Glenville, NC as well.

Hendersonville is a wonderful place to live. It's the City of Four Seasons with 3 months each of the four seasons. Not too hot...not too cold...makes the weather here just right!

Our home is "out in the country", 3100 feet in altitiude (cool summers!) with enough property to feel secluded.  Quiet, friendly, respectful neighbors make that possible.  With that said, we're  conveniently located equal distance to Hendersonville and the great shopping and dining establishments of South Asheville. Groceries at Ingles and Publix; dining out at Tupelo Honey, Chipotle, or Five Guys Burgers are just a few of the many choices!

The floor plan is open with a split bedroom plan.  There is a counter bar that is open to the kitchen, which is wonderful for coffee or breakfast.  A large deck with a pergola over the grill is right off the kitchen for convenience. Easy to eat outside there too!

Our house  has plenty of room to raise children. A huge playroom, pool table and wood burning stove included, is ideal for playtime for both children and adults. There is a HUGE room off the playroom for an unbelievable amount of storage. It's so large it could be converted in to a Mother-in-Law apartment! The outside property itself is easy to maintain. A garden spot in the back yard is ideal for growing a few vegetables, lined by blueberry bushes. An apple tree is also located on property.

A new super Ingles grocery store is five minutes away, The Fresh Market is a fifteen minute drive, and Earth Fare is a twelve minute drive. Gas station is minutes away. Biltmore Park Town Square Shopping and restaurants is a fifteen minute drive. Airport is close by. Short drive to Hendersonville. Several parks within ten minutes. New Sierra Nevada Restaurant and Brewery is five minutes away. 12 Theater Complex is a fifteen minute drive. Golf course and swimming pool in community.
