Seller Says: What I love most about Arden is the convenience to everything in Asheville, Henderson County and Brevard. Twenty minutes to everything! We are less than fifteen minutes from Biltmore Park with an abundance of shopping and great restaurants. Brixx has something for everyone. South Asheville is a mecca of great eateries from Tupelo Honey to Cinnamon Kitchen! Grocery stores are plentiful in Arden and South Asheville.  Earthfare tops the chart, followed by several Ingles. The Farmers' Market is every Wednesday in Biltmore Park from 2-6. When we bought our property we were drawn to the breathtaking mountain views within our community and the privacy in the wooded setting.

The Roberson School District is the best in Buncombe County and closed the deal for us. The Asheville area has something for everyone. The mountains, art and music scene, restaurant and beer scene are tops in the nation.  We have all come to Asheville to find ourselves, nurture our creative side or to rediscover that inner hippie we left behind.  Everyone here wants to be here and has brought with them their lifetime of talents and gifts to share.

Asheville schools are phenomenal as well. Good choice of private schools. State Universities are the best academically and affordably. Your child is given first opportunity for acceptance to state colleges over out of state candidates. Come visit and you will never leave! Listen to the birds and watch the spotted fawns every spring! We have a variety of interests from hiking with our dog off lead in our community forests to learning to spin fiber into wool from a local Alpaca farmer.
Community college and the Center for Creative Retirement opens your world to endless possibilities.  If you have an interest, you can find it here! In my neighborhood in Avery Park, we are surrounded on 3 sides by the Pisgah Forest. Hiking and wildlife abound here!  We are a community that looks out for one another, while respecting each other's privacy.

We have social gatherings poolside several times per year and our annual Holiday Social is shared between two homes.  Our Board Chair keeps us advised of what's happening in our community. Our utility costs are very low. The natural mountain breezes keep the air conditioning off most summers.  We pay $75 monthly for electricity and about $1,000 per year for gas delivery.  Well water is free!

Seller Says:
The things I love about Candler is the small hometown community yet you are within a few miles of Asheville and the many surrounding beauties that the mountains of Western North Carolina can offer. You have easy access to the interstate and the area offers all the convenience of a large town. There are many restaurants within 2-5 miles of our home.
If you want fastfood there is the convenience of McDonalds, Hardee's, Burger King, Wendys, Dunkin Donuts, etc.  We are also blessed with a Shoneys, Cracker Barrell, Fatz, Applebees, J&S Cafeteria, Pizza Hut, Ryans Family Steakhouse, Papa's and Beer, Stoneridge, etc. The list can go on and on. Needless to say there are many good places to eat whether you are on the go or want to relax and enjoy a sit-down meal. In the Enka-Candler area you have access to BiLo's, Food City, Ingles, etc for your grocery shopping.
We have lived in this area for the last 6 years. The long range views of the mountains, the convenience of I-40 and I-26, the convenience of the being in downtown Asheville in just a few minutes yet the feeling of being in the country are things that led us to Holcombe Woods. The Candler area is convenient to the interstates and to Asheville.  If we want to go to Downtown Asheville we are only a few minutes away.
The Blue Ridge Parkway, the Biltmore House, parks and hiking trails along with many fishing streams provide you with a wonderful place to live. Within 4 miles of our home you will find some of the best schools in Buncombe County. The Elementary School is within 2 miles of our home and the Middle School and High School are only 4 miles away.  We also have the convenience of the Enka Campus of AB Technical College for those wanting to further their education or just take a refresher course, etc. Having lived in Western North Carolina we find that taking a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway, going for a walk or a hike on the parkway provides great fun and exercise at little expense. There are many parks that also provide areas for walking, riding bikes, etc. "Our biggest enjoyment is the easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway since we enjoy the outdoors and the beauty of the mountains.
The Sports Arena is located here in the Candler area. (About 3 miles from our home.) There are many churches located in the area to meet the spiritual needs of all individuals." Our neighborhood consists of about 35 homes and many of the neighbors walk daily in the subdivision and you get to know the neighbors. When  you are gone for the weekend or week there are those who keep a watch on your property, collect your mail, etc.  We try to have a couple of neighborhood get-to gathers each year.  You will find the people in our neighborhood very friendly and everyone strives to keep their property neat and clean at all times.
