The things I love about Asheville are unique because we aren't overly out-doorsy type people. However, we have been on several hikes to waterfalls nearby, have enjoyed the Nature Center as well as the soccer fields in the area while watching my kids play.

We love to eat at Apollo Flame & Stone Ridge Tavern with both being just up the road and great family friendly places.  There is Artisan Deli in the same strip as the Enka Post Office and they have good breakfast food. Papa's and Beer is California Mexican food and it's located in the KMART shopping center.
There are 3 different grocery store chains located within a few miles of the neighborhood. On one end you have Ingles and the Farmers Market and on the other side you have Food Lion &; Bi-Lo from which to choose.

We moved here from Charlotte, NC, 12 years ago and had lived in a new home neighborhood there so naturally we were seeking something similar in Asheville. We lived in an apartment while looking at different areas of town and found this type of neighborhood to be a tall order. After about 9 months of searching,  we came across Biltmore Lake and driving in, we immediately knew this was where we had to be. The lake is beautiful & serene year-round but it is absolutely breath-taking in the Fall as the leaves are changing.  There is also something very peaceful that comes over this neighborhood when it snows.

We have been very pleased with our personal doctors here. We see docs at Carolina Internal MedicineABC Pediatrics, Mission Children's Specialists, Great Beginnings pediatric dentists and Grace OB-GYN. Our children have attended Academy of Asheville, Carolina Day School & Asheville Christian Academy; all of which have been top-notch.  Also, the Biltmore Square Mall is being converted to an open-air shopping outlet.
Our kids are still relatively young so the majority of the things we do center around them; whether through recreation sports, church or school.

Our neighborhood is great for Halloween. It's HUGE here. Thousands of people from all over Buncombe County come to our neighborhood to trick or treat with their kids. It's fantastic!!  Many of the homeowners here go all out with decorations,  etc.  It's also lots of fun to be down at the lake boating, hearing a concert or hanging out with friends at the fire pit.

"SELLER SAYS":

One of the things I love about where I live in Fairview is the great location of my property. We have easy access to everything and it is only a 15 - 20 minute drive to be in downtown Asheville. I love the fact that Fairview has the feel of being way out in the country, yet as I said Asheville is only minutes away. Fairview has some of the best schools in Buncombe County, and there are lots of things for kids to do in our community.

One of my favorite things about Fairview is the produce section of the Food Lion, which has the freshest produce of any grocery store around. If you prefer to buy straight from the farm, you can also do that in Fairview. We have free-range animals, organic foods, locally made cheese and more. If you are an artist, like I am, you will love the fantastic scenes and views in our little town.

My favorite place to eat is at home; I'm a great cook and I enjoy cooking. Fairview has a couple of good places to eat like the Local Joint, and a new coffee shop called Mountain Mojo. Asheville if full of independently owned restaurants. The competition is so fierce in Asheville, only the good survive. Anything you can image can be found there, just hop in your car and be there in no time.

Grocery stores, little markets and lots of convenience stores line Hwy 74A. Our store provide a good selection of your everyday foods. If you are into more gourmet items you might need to head to Asheville. However, I must say Food Lion has improved dramatically recently and they do have a pretty good selection of items for those people who are into outside isle shopping. We are in the country here, so don't forget you really can good shopping at farms. And, we do have Trout Lily, a Healthy Food Convenience Store.

When we bought this property we were drawn to it because of: location, location, location. We wanted to be able to live and work on the same piece of property. We wanted to be close to Asheville and not have to drive on curvy dangerous roads. We wanted a beautiful piece of property to open an art school. We wanted to be close to the airport, I-40 and I-26. This property has all of those things and more.

The Asheville/Fairview area is wonderful because it is so beautiful. There are people here from all walks of life and food from all corners of the world. We have art and artists, we have beer and breweries, we have music, and this is a great place to retire too. The weather is pretty good; not to much snow, not too much heat, and it is as a friend of mine calls it, "God's Country."

Another thing I can mention is there is is something for everyone around here. Many people enjoy hiking, cycling, fishing, and other things involving nature. I like to paint it out on location. And, there is nothing like sitting on your deck or in your yard, and taking it all in while drinking a cool glass of wine.

Of course we all like different things, and my passion is painting outside on location. The beauty of this area is one of the things that drew us here. My husband is into woodworking and he shares that hobby with many other people in the area.

Things we love about Asheville are the many local places to eat and breweries. The summer brings many festivals and the music in the park series.
We love to eat at local restaurants, White Duck Taco, Wild Wok Cafe and Local Taco.  Some chains as well, like Carrabas, always give good food and service.
Our local grocery store is just a mile away and is convenient and friendly.

When we bought the property we were drawn to the lovely light living room and the spacious deck, which is so peaceful and pleasant to sit out in with a glass of wine at the end of the day.
The Asheville area is wonderful for hiking with our dogs on the numerous trails available. There are many friendly people in town.
We love Asheville's close proximity to Blue Ridge Parkway and the wonderful waterfalls.  We like the seasons and beautiful colors of fall. The Shindig on the Green is always fun to meet people and friends.

Things I love about Waynesville, NC are the mountains, walking around downtown, the national parks are so close, rides on the Blue Ridge Parkway, going to the apple orchards in the fall, and the small town loyalty of the residents.

Waynesville has a lot of good food, but my favorite down home cooking place would be Clyde's, and if we were up for something different, Asheville is a short drive away. There are a few different grocery stores, and a Lowes and Walmart. Downtown has a lot of shops, and there are even a couple breweries in town now.

We LOVE our mountain house. It really is our slice of heaven. We miss it so much. We lived in the house year round, and then my husband got a new job and we now live at the NC Coast. We would be living in the house still, if we had a choice. I loved watching the amazing sunsets from the covered porch, or sitting outside under the porch during a summer thunderstorm, and watching the lightning over the mountains. The leaves in the fall are amazing, and Cataloochee is so close, that the elk come up into the neighborhood quite often. We also really like trout fishing in Johnathan Creek below our house. I think our favorite thing about the area, is we are in a perfect location, but still close enough to go to Asheville.

When we bought our house one of the first thing we did was put a red tin roof on the house, which I love more and more, every time it rains. We then put in these amazing new windows, they are huge, which is really nice for looking at the mountains. We also just put in a brand new private well, so the house gets great water pressure. Our favorite hangout spot was the loft area, or in front of the fire in the fall and winter.

We have a variety of hobbies like camping, fishing, hunting, archery, and hiking. Waynesville is the perfect place for all these things. We love to go to Bowed Up Archery in Maggie Valley, as it is an indoor archery range. We also like to take the short drive to Max Patch for a fun day outside, and Cataloochee Ski Resort is close too!

I LOVE our neighborhood! All of the neighbors are super friendly, and willing to help you if you need anything at all. We all try to work together and help each other. Most residents are part time residents, so we watch out for the everyone's houses, when people are not there.
