What we love about our town is Lake Tomahawk. We love to eat at Veranda. Our favorite grocery store is Ingles. When we bought the property, we were drawn to the location. What we love about the area is the mountains. We also love that it is close to Asheville. What we love about our neighborhood is that we can walk to the lake and we are only a couple miles from downtown Black Mountain.

Things I love about Candler are the fact that it's only 20 minutes from downtown Asheville. This mountain community nestles in Hominy Valley, approximately halfway between Asheville (to the east) and Canton (to the west) via Interstate 40 (about 20 minutes either way). Mt. Pisgah, with access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, stands to the south and Newfound Gap to the north. The views of Mount Pisgah are awesome and there are multiple access points to the blue ridge parkway. Candler is just outside the city limits of Asheville. Small enough to enjoy the serenity of nature but big enough to feel like your not living in the big city.

We love to eat at Applebee's, Fatz Cafe, I-Hop, El Chapala Restaurant, Yao's Chinese Buffet, Zaxby's, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Wild Wing Cafe, Chili's, Longhorn Steakhouse, and Texas Roadhouse.

Grocery stores are close and plentiful. Especially with the new Ingles getting ready to open on Sandhill Rd across from AB Tech. There are 3 grocery stores to choose from. The Napa Auto Parts, Auto Zone and Advanced Auto parts stores are very convenient. There are 2 pharmacies within a mile to choose from. There is a sports park about a mile away. It is very kid and dog friendly. With a brand new sports park due to begin construction in early 2016. There are also two home improvement stores within 3 miles. Bank of America and Telco Community Credit Union are approx. 1/4 of a mile from home. There is 2 dentist offices and a family health center are less than a 1/4 of a mile from the house. There are 2 Walmart's within 11 miles of the house.

When we bought the property, we were drawn to the mountain views. The fact that the location was not to far out of town, but yet still close enough to get to downtown within 20 minutes. There are 3 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 1 high school and 1 Private school within approx. 5 mile radius. The peace and quiet of a small neighborhood.

The Asheville are is wonderful because there is so much to see and do that's not going to break you bank account. The newly constructed Asheville outlet mall is very convenient. There is a variety of restaurants to choose from. The shopping opportunities are endless. There are multiple tubing and rafting locations close by. There are also multiple zipline tours. There is a variety of mountain bike trails along the blue ridge parkway.

Of course we all like to do different things, we enjoy riding our motorcycles on the back roads and the blue ridge parkway. We like to take our dogs to the park and let them play, also take them swimming up on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Our neighborhood is great for families, to make new friends. Everyone is eagerly willing to help out their neighbor. It is a very family oriented feel. Kids from the neighborhood come out and play tag football, basketball, ride their bicycles and the adults watch out for their neighbors and their properties. The neighborhood is quite and friendly. The views from our back covered porch are relaxing, especially in the fall.
