The thing we most love about Asheville is that it is.... WONDERFULLY UNIQUE!! That is the only way I can possibly describe it. The perfect mix of city and country living. Has a wide variety of experiences for the young, old and everyone in between. For singles and families. Adventure seekers and home bodies. The city and surrounding areas are beautiful. Plus the location itself is so close to other major and bigger cities that makes it convenient in a larger sense. Because of that, I can't imagine living anywhere else!
Our home is located so close to so many restaurants and more local eateries it is so hard to pick just one. Every variety you can imagine. From chain restaurants such as McDonalds to Applebees to Ruth Chris to The Omni Grove Park Inn. Lots of more local eateries as 12 Bones (BBQ) to Bellagio (Greek) to Asheville Pizza & Brewing Co (local pizza, beer and can watch a movie all). You can literally find any kind of a meal with in a few minutes drive. Also, Pizza delivery is good to go with Pizza Hut and Papa Johns both (lol) along with several other food delivery services.
The conveniences we have are amazing. We are minutes from grocery stores, including Ingles. 2 Walmarts are within about 15 minutes drive. A Kmart and Golds Gym is only about 5 minutes away. There is a convenience store is walking distance from our home (which has saved the day many times). And literally dozens of places to eat!
The biggest thing that brought us to this property was location, location, location. It is SOOOO convenient to downtown and about anywhere, literally. You can be in downtown, Weaverville, West Asheville, Leicester (including medical offices, hospital, ER, shopping centers and mall) and many other areas in less than 15 minutes. BUT it is far enough away that you don't have all the major noise and traffic of being close in the city. Taxes! The city limit actually cuts through the end of the property, but it ISN'T in the city limit. Only Buncombe County taxes! The brick exterior = easy exterior maintenance and it looks great! Next was the mature growth of the trees on the property. The fact that the property is 95% level. The view from the house from the kitchen window of Pisgah Mountain. Last big factor was the huge potential for growth/renovation of the house itself. Could easily expand out any side of the home easily. I love the area and actually do not plan to move that far away. So many things just for life in general are so close by. Not just the ease of getting to the store or an appointment. There are many local churches of several demonization's. A great Methodist church is almost across the street. A wonderful elementary school is just a mile or so up the road. Bus pick up is right at the driveway. There is also many parks, walking trails, small lake and river with fishing, a dog park, a water rafting center, golf course with club, mini golf facility and other outdoors enthusiast loving things a short drive away. Not to mention Asheville is busting at the seems with history a thriving small business, art and cultural experiences as well.
Other things to mention that I find important in having in a home is that we have rarely lost power in that area. Sounds not significant but it is when there is 20+ inches of snow on the ground and in the single digits temps (Been there, done that). Charter Communications has cable TV, high speed internet and phone in the area. Natural gas (PSNC) is also at the house with the back up (or primary) heat source of the infrared heater and the hot water heater. Great reception on all of the local radio stations. Duke Energy Progress is the power company. Water and sewer is with City of Asheville. Cell phone service is great with all carriers. Weekly trash pick up is available with Republic at a reasonable rate at the driveway. Mail service is right at your drive as well. ART (Asheville Redefines Transit) which is a public bus service that serves the City of Asheville, stops within a very short walk from the driveway! Lastly, Pizza delivery is good to go with Pizza Hut and Papa Johns both (lol) along with several other food delivery services.
