The things I love about Black Mountain are endless. I love going to Lake Tomahawk to walk and for music and food on Thursday nights in the summer, it feels like a true community that enjoys each other.  I love going to the green-way trail within walking distance of our home.  I love that I can walk to a lot of great places to eat like The Trailhead, and The Veranda as well as great little sweet shops in Black Mountain like Hey Hey Cupcake and Black Mountain Bakery.

I also love heading to the coffee shops in town, the Artisan and Dynamite Roasters are my favorite and so close!   I love that Black Mountain is quaint, safe, and really lives like a community should... together.  I also love that Montreat is also within walking distance and the trails start at the gate which is really close to our home! We love to eat at The Trailhead, The Veranda, The Ale House, The Blackbird, Ole Guacamole's, Fresh Pizza and Pasta... there are others in town, but those are our favorites depending on what type of environment and food mood we are in... they are all very good! We usually shop at Ingles because it has a ton of selection including local and organic items.  The local shops in town are great too!

Looking for a great wine, the Artisan and The Merry Wine Market are great places.  Looking to pick up a dessert, Black Mountain Bakery has great cakes! There is also a Bi-Lo in town which is convenient if you need to be really quick.  They too have a pretty good selection!

When we bought this property we were drawn to the fact that it was close to both downtown and Montreat without being on a main road.  We also loved that it would have a view and it would not be a through road, so we have no traffic! It's very peaceful! Black Mountain is the best of both worlds... it's quaint and safe and a very community oriented place to live AND it is super convenient to Asheville, which is the most enjoyable place I've ever lived! It has a little bit of everything and I love that it's a culturally rich area to live.

A few other things I can mention are the convenience with the views.  The views here are just amazing... it's wonderful to have these views and still be within walking distance to town and Montreat.  While the driveway is a little steep for people not used to the mountains, we've managed just fine with our vehicles which are not 4 wheel drive.  So, all in all it's a wonderful package in a convenient and beautiful location! The area, the views, the open floorplan for entertaining, all of the windows in the house, the large covered front porch, the convenience of being close to Black Mountain, Montreat, and Asheville we love it all! "Of course we all like different things, but our hobbies here include a community group with friends, Crossfit group in Asheville, a yoga group in Black Mountain, and we love to hike the local trails.

We also are ""foodies"" and love to try all of the local places regularly.  We also have yearly memberships at The Biltmore House and walk the trails and gardens there often.  It's such a great place to live!  " While we don't live in a "neighborhood" our street is fun! All of us on Painted Trillium Trail have front porches and will often stop and chat in passing.  It's a little front porch road, and the neighbors are great! "Our utility costs here are great because we are in a new home with energy efficient everything! We have rented places less than a third the size of ours and they were significantly higher for utilities and we were still cold in the winter!  The fact that we have new everything including windows, insulation, energy efficient toilets, thermostat, Rinnai tankless water heater etc. really helps our house run efficiently and be warm and cozy in the winter and nice and cool in the summer.  The tankless water heater is awesome because you can take forever long hot showers and NEVER run out of hot water... ahhh, perfect for the Jacuzzi tub.

We use Suburban Propane (we actually have a significant credit with them because they overestimated what our average would be), we are on the payment plan there and were on around $200 a month but then had over a $2000 credit at the end of the year.  Our Progress Energy bill usually runs between $45 - $50 a month.  Water and sewer are through Black Mountain and run about $35 a month.  "

Seller Says:

The things I love about my town are the climate is fairly mild most of the year, most places in town are easy to get to from my neighborhood, the people are friendly, and there are several places to take out-of -town guests that don't cost much. I love to eat at Ole's Guacamoles authentic Mexican restaurant not far from the neighborhood. There are also several good chain restaurants in this part of town that can be enjoyed. There are several options for grocery stores in the area. The local chain Ingles has a store about 2 miles away. the regional chain of Bi-Lo is not far. We also have a Wal-Mart and Aldi not too far from the neighborhood. There is also a discount or scratch-and-dent type of store close by.

When we bought the property we were drawn to the quietness of the neighborhood due to the fact that almost every street is a dead-end street. We also liked how the house sits up a bit from the road level. The Asheville area is wonderful for several reasons. It has both a city and a small town feel.

There is a branch of one of the state universities in town as well as a high-ranking community college. Almost every weekend there is a festival or special-interest show in somewhere nearby. Asheville is also next to the Blue Ridge Parkway for those who like the great outdoors and national parks. "I did not have any children but I have heard that the schools the neighborhood children attend are some of the best in the county.

I have greatly enjoyed living in this quiet, safe neighborhood for 27 years now and am very sad to be leaving it. But it is time for me to move on.

Asheville is  home to the Biltmore Estate - the largest private home in the United States. It is also  home to the Grove Park Inn which is an excellent example of the Arts and Crafts style of architecture. there are several places nearby to get out and enjoy the great outdoors as well. I often enjoy walking in the neighborhood. It is a good way to get a little familiar with the  neighbors.

There are really several options for interests and hobbies as I have noted above. I especially enjoy going to visit the small town of Black Mountain, just about nine miles away. That is another good place to take a walk and see the stores or enjoy a lovely meal. Our neighborhood is great for being open to meet and get to know the neighbors through the homeowner's group and annual picnics, most neighbors are friendly, especially right next to my house, and we watch out for each other in the cul-de-sac.

My utility costs are not nearly as high as some of my friends who live in the area. We have gas heat and the winter bills are about $150-$160. The electric bill in the summer with air conditioning can vary depending how cool you like the house to be but i have found, especially this year, that a couple hours of cooling the house down each day seems to keep it comfortable most of the time and that my bill is around $35. Currently we are serviced by the following utility companies: Charter communications for cable and internet, PSNC Energy for gas, and Progress Energy for electricity. We are also on city water with Asheville and the neighborhood homes all have septic tanks. i also have had a contract with Terminix for many years to inspect and treat for any insects or termites that may be around.

GREAT location close to Hendersonville road shops/restaurants/cinemas. Just off Sweeten Creek, close to Biltmore Village.

Seller Says:

The things I love about Arden is that there is Biltmore Park just down the road and not to mention so many great restaurants to chose from! We love to eat at the following restaurants that are close by: Brixx, Neo Burrito and Green Sage! Grocery stores are plentiful and we love to shop at Earthfare or Ingles just down the road from the house.

When we bought the property we were drawn to the open layout of the kitchen, dining and living room, which is awesome for entertaining!  Also, its prime location right off Hendersonville Hwy in the lovely Royal Pines neighborhood. We also were drawn to the beautiful hardwood floors throughout the house (except in the bathrooms there is tile).

The Asheville area is wonderful because the people are so friendly and living in the mountains is so much fun, especially if you enjoy hiking!! A few other things I can mention are: there are beautiful granite countertops in the kitchen, jacuzzi jets in the master bath tub, large walk-in closet in master bedroom which we recently added two levels on both sides, full sized unfinished basement, pre-plumbed, each window has custom fit, nice, white, wide slat blinds through house!

This home is like new (built in 2007, only lived in 3.5 years) nestled at the end of a dead end road with great privacy surrounded by trees and 7 foot privacy fenced in backyard. We enjoy grilling out on our deck to eat dinner in the summer.  Also, going for walks around the neighborhood is great.  Our dog has enjoyed the nice big fenced in backyard and we have enjoyed the privacy. We love to do lots of fun things in this area, but our favorite is being members at The Rush Fitness Complex to workout!

Our neighborhood is awesome because there is a wonderful park walking distance to our house - great for the kiddos or the pooch!

We love to eat at nearby restaurants such as Cheddars, J&S Cafeteria, Cornerstone, IHop, Longhorn Steakhouse, Chick-Fil-A, and Red Lobster. Grocery stores are close and plentiful.  In about a one mile radius we have Ingles, Bilo, Aldi, Walmart, and Go Grocery.

The things I love about Asheville are, nice peaceful place to raise a family, Surounded by beautiful mountains and excellent medical facilities. Our neighborhood is great for a quite and beautiful place to live.  Close and convenient to shopping, hospitals, entertainment, and church.

When we purchased this property we were excited to find a place that was very private but convenient to shopping, schools, and medical care.  This spacious home had what we were looking for such as a mountain view, room to build a workshop, and and area for vegetable and flower gardens.

Asheville has been home to me most of my life.  I enjoy the good quality water, the mountains, trout fishing, and grouse hunting.  There are plenty of golf courses, restaurants, and excellent medical care.  We even have a Veterans Hospital.

The schools here are tremendous from elementary through high school.  My children and grandchildren attended the local public schools.  All were able to get into excellent colleges.  Two of my grandchildren went to college on athletic/academic scholarships.  This area has many fine college and university programs for ALL ages.

This property is located conveniently to the Blue Ridge Parkway, I-240, I-40, and Tunnel Road.  Nestled in the middle of 7 acres, it has been a private getaway for me and my family.

This area can be all inclusive for any hobby!  The sky is the limit.  I enjoy, walking, hiking, gardening, and social outings.  Many of my friends are interested in the various forms of Art that Asheville offers such as live theater, music, and art studios.  The Asheville Tourists baseball is great family fun. The Nature Center, soccer fields and a wonderful playground are less than a quarter of a mile away.

We have enjoyed having access to gas heat, gas heated water, and gas fireplaces.  Our provider for gas is PSNC.  Our electric power provider is Progressive.  Water and Sewer is provided by Asheville Water and Sewer.

Seller says:

"What I love about Weaverville is its beauty and atmosphere. Weaverville is surrounded by picturesque mountains and has a small town charm with the convenience of a large town.

There are many great places to eat out in Weaverville, but our favorite place to get ice cream is at the Weaverville Drug Store.  The old-fashioned charm and customer service is truly refreshing!

Grocery shopping has never been so convenient and pleasant as it has been in Weaverville.  There are many stores to shop at, including the new Super Walmart Store.  Ingles, not only has great prices, but the friendly service is unbeatable. They even take your groceries to your vehicle at no extra charge!

What attracted us to this property was the large, private, cul-de-sac lot, quiet neighborhood and the mountain views. We purchased the land and built a custom home that incorporates all the conveniences and amenities sought after by most families. Award-winning schools are only a few minutes away and the library is conveniently located in downtown Weaverville. Additionally, restaurants, places of worship, dentists, eye-doctors, chiropractors and family-medical doctors are all located within a two to five minute drive.

We moved to the Asheville/Weaverville area because you get a high-quality of life with a low-cost of living. Besides loving our home for the functional, yet elegant layout, it is located only 10 minutes from downtown Asheville.  You feel like you are living in a country setting, yet are only a few minutes away from major stores like Walmart, Lowes, Grocery Stores, banks and restaurants.  In less than an hour, additional shopping and entertainment can be found in Johnson City, Tenessee and Greenville, South Carolina. It is truly a convenient location!

We love the layout of our home.  The front of the home is more formal, but the rear of the home lends itself to more entertainment and open concept.  The back deck encompasses the entire width of the home and leads to a sunroom that is both heated and cooled.  The dual staircases is great, with one leading to a huge bonus room that can be used as a media room, game room, man cave, craft room, homeschool room or home office.

We love to go to Lake Louise which is only 5 minutes away from our home.  It is a great place to have a picnic or walk around the lake.  Our neighborhood is great because you have neighbors that are close in case contact is needed, but it affords the privacy of an independent estate.  The neighbors are friendly and helpful, without being intrusive.  We get together once a year for a picnic that is great family fun!"
