"Seller Says"

Moving back home to Western North Carolina from Las Vegas in 2014, I soon realized Asheville's growth had brought with it a number of big city problems, among them lots of traffic and people! Having lived in Las Vegas for 10 years I wanted a more peaceful lifestyle. I selected Waynesville for many reasons - smaller mountain town (started about 1809, situated at over 2700 ft elev so its cooler), close to Asheville (about 30 mins on I-40), lots of shops and cafes on a great little Main St, The Strand Theatre on Main St (shows, concerts and movies in a theatre started in 1947), everything else I need - Walmart  Supercenter, bigbox stores, grocery stores, pharmacies, etc, the Blue Ridge Parkway (easy access just west of town).

Living in Waynesville offers me the best of both worlds- the peace and beauty of rural, mountain living coupled with easy access to Asheville, Gatlinburg/Sevierville/Pigeon Forge area.

Waynesville offers such a nice variety of restaurants ! Bocellis Italian Eatery, Boojum Brewing Company, a number of great pizza shops, locals cafes, "home cookin" restaurants and many more ! Asheville ( 30-40 min from Waynesville) offers restaurants in Biltmore Park . Among them is Hickory Tavern (my fav) - great selection of food, cold beer, seating inside or out.

In Waynesville you have many large chain groceries - Ingles, Food Lion, Walmart, Bilo, etc. We also have a Lowes and Tractor Supply.

This home offers the therapeautic peace and quiet that comes with owning a log home with acreage in a gated community high up in the mountains of WNC.

I enjoy each unique season here in Big Laurel- in winter the beauty and excitement of an occasional snow; springs slow greening bringing with it warmer temps, everything blooming and lots of birds and butterflies; summers long days, relatively cool temps (low 80s) and amazing beauty; fall up here brings fabulous colors as days become cooler and trees begin their change. This is my favorite time of year to hike!

Good times are best enjoyed with loved ones! This property offers outdoor enthusiasts the opportunity to hike trails throughout GSMNP (Great Smoky Mountain National Park). I start my hikes at my front door -no driving to trailheads. The Swag (google it) and Cataloochee Ski Resort are a short hike away.

Things I will miss - this areas amazing flowers , my apple trees (2), 15 blueberry bushes, grape vine, cherry tree and shiitake mushroom logs, my garden, lazy days on the deck reading and listening to the streams in front of the house, roasting marshmallows at the fire pit on cool autumn evenings (smores go great with a cold beer!), target shooting on my property, my neighbors, and, most of all, living in a log home in a gated community at approx 4250 ft elevation. It doesnt get much better than that!

I enjoy hiking, movies, gardening, target shooting, Blue Ridge Parkway, cafes Living in the gated mountain community of Big Laurel has been a pleasure. Neighbors are all friendly and always stop for a chat when we meet. Occasional cookouts offer a chance to get to know folks in Big Laurel. The foods great and its a good thing we are not on public roads driving home !😊

A lot of buyers like to know about utility costs. My monthly utility costs are as follows- power (Haywood Electric): average about $100, propane ( Blossman Gas) : $150, septic/water : zero, internet (AT&T): $40, TV ( Direct tv) : $120.
