Spacious and private home will make you feel like you are away from it all, but is only 10 minutes to downtown Asheville and 5 minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway! Large lot in small neighborhood, with nicely maintained road. Many updates, including a fantastic kitchen with granite and stainless. Cathedral ceilings and lots of windows compliment the open floor plan. Master suite on main level, with two bedrooms and family room on lower.
"Seller Says"
The character of Asheville drew us into the community from our very first visit. The entire area has a great mix of southern charm and grace with a host of amenities from what you would expect from a much larger city. But only minutes away from downtown you have seemingly boundless nature. You can find peace, quiet and privacy or gear up for just about any outdoor activity you enjoy. And, there are just as many opportunities for a sophisticated night out with live entertainment and a food scene that combines a commitment to locally sourced ingredients with culinary talent to match the best - anywhere I've been. I suppose the general nature of tolerance and appreciation for all kinds of people has got to be one of the greatest draws.
There are simply too many quality restaurants to mention. Expert examples abound for just about any cuisine you prefer. The area's commitment to locally sourced food makes each dining experience all the more enjoyable...not only can these places amaze your mouth, but you have the comfort of knowing from where your food came. If you like to cook at home, join one of the local CSAs and enjoy your share of the locally grown farm produce.
Less than ten minutes down the hill and you have two of the best places around for a down to earth meal, or a quick chance to fill up the car, pick up groceries, or fill that prescription. Five more minutes on your way and you are in the heart of downtown with every amenity you can think of. All the privacy you could want with full-width paved road access right up to your front door. Landscaping, beautifully integrated into the natural habitat, not just pleasing to the eye, but designed to bring in the birds, butterflies, and other wildlife.
The home was upgraded in many respects, with a mind towards maintaining that country feel, without leaving out modern amenities. The modern open-plan kitchen and vaulted ceilings on the main level makes the heart of the home. Great for entertaining, or just relaxing at home.
For year-round living, you can't beat a fire in the glass front wood stove in the lower level living room. You get that long-lasting, energy-efficient catalyst fire going with a window into the rolling red flames. It's the best of both worlds. And believe it or not, once that thing gets rolling, you can heat the whole home with it, if you wanted to.
South Asheville is a great place for your home. Low density housing in an already relatively mature state of development means privacy abounds and is pretty much here to stay. Our community has excellent winter views with summer privacy. Look out your window in the spring and fall and see what living along the migratory bird route means. Year round wildlife abounds too. Our dogs love sitting at the breakfast nook while we drink our morning coffee while watching the birds. Open the window, and enjoy the songsters even more. And the evenings are just as enjoyable. If you haven't seen the night sky with a clear view of the heavens without the wash of city lights, then you are in for a real treat.
The Insteon intelligent home lighting system can be set to just about any lighting scene you can think of. Log on through the home network to set up or change timed events and perform remote control of the major lighting circuits, inside and out. And everything shuts off at the end of the day to save that energy. Travel a lot? Set up random light events to look like someone is home, not to mention the peace of mind that comes with the complete wireless home security system. If you are techie, you can even log into the security and lighting systems from your smartphone or laptop.
We love getting out on the weekends to explore the mountains and communities. There is just so much to see and do with so many wonderful, good natured people to meet. The Blue Ridge Parkway is literally a stone's throw away for hiking and exploring, or a scenic drive, if you prefer. For a more refined experience, there is always the Asheville Symphony, but if you like live music, you're looking at the right place. Head down to the Orange Peel for your favorite groups on the road..and there is so much local talent available at venues all over town. Whatever music you like, someone's playing live. And if you like craft brews, you're coming to beer heaven. If we aren't the craft brew capital of the USA, it's only because somebody hasn't decided to make an award for it. If wine is your thing, several established retail outlets are available with talented, knowledgeable staff to keep your cellar well stocked - and, do not miss visiting the Biltmore Winery for a wonderful trip through the production process...and enjoy the reward of the tasting experience at the end.
The property has plenty of room for a hobby garden, or larger, if you like. A nice sized area is fenced off for playing with the kids or dogs. The mature forest around the property provides privacy, quiet and the chance to enjoy abundant wildlife. The two car garage is over-sized enough to meet most storage and working needs on top of holding two full size cars. Two full sized outdoor sheds hold all your outdoor gear with room to spare.
Our neighborhood is only fifteen minutes from downtown, but nonetheless has the privacy of large lots in an area that seems well off the beaten path. Neighbors are caring and friendly with an overall sense of community.
