"Seller Says"
We love this area in Mills River, because of its small town charm yet close proximity to Asheville, Hendersonville and Brevard. Restaurants, shopping and entertainment are minutes away, but it doesn't feel like you are in the middle of the hustle and bustle of a large city.

We love eating at Tupelo Honey in South Asheville, Beef O'Brady's in Fletcher, Dugan's Pub in Brevard or Mezzaluna in Hendersonville.  Since Mills River is so close to Asheville, Hendersonville and Brevard, we have so many options for dining out.

Grocery stores are plentiful and a new Ingles Market is opening soon right up the road. If local produce is your passion, Mills River hosts a farmer's market on Saturday mornings during the summer.

When we bought this property, we were drawn to the open floor plan and natural light that exists throughout the house.  The master bedroom is very large with enough room to add an en suite bathroom if desired.

There is almost a full acre of property that allows for many gardening and landscaping opportunities.

We were also excited about the location which is about 20 minutes from South Asheville, Hendersonville and Brevard.  Highway 26 and the Asheville Regional Airport are also just minutes away.

The Mills River area is a great place to live.  With sprawling farmland and the Pisgah National Forest as its backdrop, Mills River gives the feeling of being far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life, yet it lies just minutes from great restaurants, shops and local attractions.  For those nature enthusiasts, there are many opportunities for hiking, canoeing, camping, riding and exploring from the Blue Ridge Parkway to the DuPont State Forest.

It's also a great place to be a part of a growing community with a developing park and green way area, a large selection of churches, a fledgling business association, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, and more!

We do not have children in the school system, but the schools in the Mills River are excellent.  I am a graduate of West Henderson High School, so I can attest to this first-hand.  Mills River is served by Mills River Elementary School, located about 2 miles away, Rugby Middle School, and West Henderson High School, both located 5.5 miles away. Buses from all three schools run routes on Gilreath Loop Road.

If one is in need of extra study time or looking to pass the time reading, Mills River has a brand new public library open next to Town Hall.

We love the outdoors and Mills River is a great gateway to many of Western North Carolina's premiere outdoor destinations.  Within a short distance, residents have access to Pisgah National Forest, DuPont State Forest, Gorges State Park, Caesars Head State Park, Holmes State Forest, Chimney Rock State Park, Table Rock State Park, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the French Broad River, literally right in your back yard.  It's incredible to think that these vacation destinations are so close to where we live!

There is something for everyone near Mills River.  If you are into the great outdoors, many parks, trails and waterfalls are within your reach.  If you are into traveling, you have easy access to both the Asheville Regional Airport and Interstate 26. For those who enjoy finer things in life, catch a world-class performance at the Brevard Music Center, a play at the Flat Rock Playhouse, or sample some of the finest craft beer available at one of the local breweries, including newcomers Sierra Nevada and Oskar Blues.

For families, there are many opportunities for the little ones as well. There are opportunities for recreation at Mills River Park, Boy and Girl Scout troops, and story time at the Mills River Library.  When autumn rolls around, head down to West Henderson High School to watch the Falcons take on their arch rivals in prep football or join one of the many baseball leagues which play in Henderson County.

Our neighborhood is good for a walk on crisp fall afternoons or lazy summer days. There is usually only local traffic on the loop, which makes walking with children or dogs very safe.  If you would rather, Mills River has a brand new park near the library complete with a walking path, tennis courts, playground and two fenced dog parks.

The only utility cost the residence has is for electricity through Duke Energy.  The bill ranges from $70-$110 depending on the season and utility rates.  With the new HVAC system installed, the house is energy-efficient and helps keep costs down.  The water supply comes from a well located on the property and a septic tank is used for waste water.  In the living room, there is a gas fireplace, however there is currently not a tank attached.  Freeman Gas and Blossman Gas have offices in close proximity and are recommended if a gas tank hook up is desired.
