The thing I love about Candler is that it is lower traffic and busyness but so close to all the interstates and Asheville.  I can be in downtown Asheville in less then 15 minutes at my favorite restaurants.  Asheville is a great place where everyone fits in.
I love to eat out.  There are so many close restaurants with local, organic food.  It is great to be a foodie here.  We are also the top beer city.  I love the healthy eating choices.  I also order from Eden-Out that delivers organic prepared to my door twice weekly.  How does it get better then that.  My favorite restaurants are Laughing Seed, Sunny Point, Bandidos, and Green Tea for the sushi!

There is a shopping center less then a mile from home with a grocery store.  Also, within 10 minutes you can be at the original Earth Fare which is my favorite for organic healthy foods.

I was most drawn to the large trees and wooded lot of my home.  The lot is loaded with evergreen English Ivy that makes a low maintenance lawn, no mowing.  I had a local landscaper add local plants that bloom throughout the seasons and some healing herbs.  I loved all the decks, cathedral ceilings, fireplaces, sunken living room.  I also loved the hydrotherapy shower I had built in with a steam shower.  I love the views that are like being in a treehouse.  A green sanctuary.  The basement was perfect for an awesome workout room.

I love the area, because it has the being away from it all in the woods feel.  However, you are minutes from everything because the interstates are all so close.  I love taking community education classes at the AB Tech branch that is less then a mile from my home.  There are so many festivals and activities I am close to in West Asheville, Asheville, and Hendersonville.

Some other things worth mentioning is that the home has an Eco Water system installed which filters out bleach, fluoride, etc from the city water.  The bright white walls make any artwork stand out in the home.  The extended kitchen breakfast bar is so convenient for entertaining large groups with potlucks.

My favorite hobby is strength training for strongman meets and there are several close trainers that I go to for group training with in Asheville and Hendersonville.  I also enjoy living a healthy lifestyle and Asheville is probably the best place in the country to eat local, organic, non-GMO foods if you are trying to make that choice.  I love being a local foodie with all the great restaurants.  The mountains offer many hiking groups to take advantage of to get closer to all the beautiful views.

Our neighborhood has a very private large road where people walk among big beautiful trees and landscaping.  There are larger lots than other developments.  Everyone is nice and peaceful.
My utility costs are inexpensive.  My Duke electric bill worst case in the winter has been under $150 and I have had bills about $50 for many of the other months.  The taxes are lower because we are not in city limits.  I have city water for about $20 every couple of months.  Waste Pro picks up trash and recycling Tuesday mornings for $40 every couple months.  I have a bundle with Charter Cable for $60 per month for high speed internet and phone service.

  1. Love the wooded lot and the privacy. Rare contemporary, among the mature trees, hard to find sometimes these days, especially in new developments. Light and bright natural light in the home. Gorgeous stone fireplace. Great screened porch to entertain off the dining room. 10 minutes to Asheville NC. Great country home with lots of character.

  7. I LOVE the contemporary design of this home. The kitchen is amazing and the yard is contemplative with great character trees. I would live in the screened in porch. This home is very hard to find in Western North Carolina and at a great price.

  8. This house is so unique, especially for the area that lacks an inventory for contemporary homes from any decade. There are some great spaces in the home for conversation, the set down living room as you walk in the front door, as well as the screened in back porch amongst the trees. The master suite and basement space adds additional perks to this home.

  12. Stopped by this home just a couple weeks ago. Huge back deck with tons of potential. Excellent lot space with relatively flat land. Lots of natural light and a large living space. Beautiful wood beams in the house, in addition to contemporary and new bathrooms. A great value for this home, excellent buy.
