"Seller Says"
What do you love about the town you live in?  The town of Fletcher is nicely nestled between Asheville and Hendersonville. Just the right size for a home town feel, yet close to both cities. Not a lot of traffic to keep from getting the necessary trips made quickly.

There is a large, clean, well stocked branch of the Henderson County Public Library, post office, efficient fire house, and a public recreational park with enclosed softball fields, play ground, walking track, planned functions and more. Fletcher has its own police department with minimal area crime.

This pleasant town holds a variety of shops from garden/feed stores, large fabric store, upscale dress shop, and a variety of churches and banks.  Fletcher also holds a lot of interesting history.  You will be proud being called a Fletcherite.

Where do you love to eat?  We enjoy the peaceful setting of our expansive decks to relax while eating a home cooked meal.  The outstanding long range views of nature, cool evenings, listening to the waterfall, or watching the radiant sunsets behind Mt. Pisgah, why go anywhere else?  Or sit and relax, eating a bowl of soup by the attractive easy to maintain, Hearthstone wood stove.  The warmth that it gives is perfect during the winter.  If you want an extra treat, just head down the mountain 2.5 miles to the just opened Strawberry Hill Yogurt which offers soup, panini sandwiches, pizza and a large variety of yogurt, sorbet with delicious toppings to top the evening off.

Where do you shop?  A variety of grocery shopping is within 8 miles of our house. Fletcher Valley Natural Foods, just 2.5 miles away, offers a large variety of organic and health foods.  Nearby is also an Asian market and the super grocery store Ingles - if they don't have it, you don't need it.  Hendersonville, Arden, Skyland and Asheville are all within 15-20 miles, offering many more choices.

At the large Farmer's Market in Asheville, vendors will fill your baskets or trunk with their produce, honey or other specialties.

What were you drawn to when you bought the property?  When we saw this 6.5+ acre, 2,500 ft. elevation, untouched, private, secluded property, we absolutely fell in love with it.  The long range views, the woods, mountain laurels, rhododendrons.  The minimal mowing needed to take up our spare time. The creek/stream, natural springs, and a rare 30-foot waterfall.  Walking trails, wild life of birds, racoons, bob cat, an occasional visit from the black bear.  All of this is found on our property and we knew there was no other place to build our home.

The excellent tasting, crystal clear well water with plenty to fill the 24-foot swimming pool was a great bonus.  We are blessed to have this peaceful seclusion in nature, room for a garden, and a RV 30/50 amp site pad.

The 1.5 story large playhouse, tepee, rope swing, rock climbing wall, the pool and fun exploring the out-of-doors, makes this property perfect for raising a family or providing enjoyment for your visiting friends and family.

Note: The waterfall could be a potential for hydroelectric power.

What is great about the Asheville area in your opinion?  This part of Western North Carolina is the best place to live.  The lush, green beauty, the great year-round temperatures of mild winters and summers, beautiful colors in the fall, and a very low population of flying insects makes for a pleasant environment.  If you are wanting to leave a snow packed, insect-mazed, tornado alley, flood or hurricane prone area - then this is the place for you.  We seemed to be spared the severe weather pattern that other places are impacted with.

Anything else you can mention about the infrastructure of the area - schools, hospitals, etc.?  Within 3 miles of this home, we are blessed to have a state of the art hospital and doctor's offices with excellent physicians.  Also a fitness center that is equipped with the latest exercise equipment, an indoor swimming pool, therapy pool and hot tub. Fitness classes are offered to help improve one's health. A massage and physical therapist are available on the premises.  We have excellent private and public elementary and high schools and we're only 4+/- miles to I-26.   All this so close!

Anything else you can mention about the area?  We love the endless variety of things to do in this area, such as hiking Mt. Pisgah, or Mount Mitchell and other scenic trails to walk or mountain bike.  We enjoy camping, whether in our RV or tent, and taking our canoe down one of the rivers or on the lake.  There are several multi-skill level snow skiing resorts within a two hour drive and we enjoy them all.

What kind of interests and hobbies are available in the area?  With the extra large bedrooms and the full apartment/guest quarters on the lower level that this house offers, you have a place for your friends and family to visit while you show them the Biltmore Estate or Carl Sandburg's Home and Farm and other attractions in the area.  If you like rugged, adventurous mountain climbing, biking or walking trails, we have it.  If you like southern hospitality, history, museums, and entertainment, they are all here.  There is such a variety of interests and activities that you don't need to go anywhere else and we are only 5-6 hours away from the beach/ocean.

What do you love about your neighborhood?  Our 140 acre neighborhood is a well-planned subdivision, full of local history and character. With a minimum of 2.5 acres for those on the mountainside, this provides plenty of space and privacy.  Some have larger parcels of land.

All the neighbors are friendly and caring and we would not hesitate leaving our house key with any of them.  Christmas get-togethers at one of the homes or a get-better acquainted, yearly subdivision meeting are highlights.  Just beyond our neighborhood are many hiking and mountain biking trails for your cardio workout.

Average utility costs?  Our average utility costs are well below the "Efficient Home" Duke Energy usage report, stating that we are among the MOST Efficient homes in our area.  This is due to the energy efficient, solid structure of our home built by one of the best builders in our area. The exterior walls are 6 inches to keep the heat out during the summer and the cold out in the winter.

The insulation is above code in all the walls, between floor levels and in the carpeted attic. There is also insulation in the walls of the split bedrooms, that are on either side of the great room, as well as around the bathrooms for a sound barrier.

Our A/C unit is newer than the house, we just did not need to install it, due to our high elevation, and a whole house attic fan to bring in the cool evening breezes.

The great room, kitchen, and the office on the main level have paddle fans, as well as the four bedrooms on the upper level. The lower level living room also has a paddle fan.

EnergyUnited Propane maintains the 500 gallon tank that supplies the two central, fan forced, propane gas furnaces that keep the house warm. A gas range/convection oven and a gas dryer are on the main level. We have plenty of hot water with our two 50 gallon gas water heaters.

There are electrical outlets installed behind the gas range, dryer and water heaters if you prefer to change to all electric.

The poured concrete daylight basement has a Jotul gas log stove, as well as electric zone control heat to keep warm.

The many windows let in the sunshine and allows one to enjoy the views. There is specialty lighting throughout the house, with theater lights on the stairways, and the house is wired for central stereo.

The two upper level bathrooms have electric wall heaters on a timer, that provide extra warmth as you come out of the 1). 6 ft. x 3.5 ft. cultured marble, double head shower, 2) cultured marble whirlpool tub, 3) 11x 13.5 dressing room, or the 4) cultured marble garden tub/shower.

The lower level bathroom also has a wall heater and a cultured marble garden tub/shower.

The property has a 6+ gallon per minute well and a septic tank.

No worries about any power outage: the house is set up with a whole house transfer switch, and you won't even be able to tell that the power is out.

There is so much more to this property that I was not able to include it all.  Such as a 6-foot walk-in kitchen pantry, plenty of storage throughout the house, the large two car garage with over-sized doors for large vehicles, plenty of lighting, and space for pool and camping gear, bikes, tools and more.

When you come, be sure to wear your walking shoes.
