Things I love about my town are the small town feel, beautiful mountains, friendly people, preservation of downtown and the older buildings in the area, craft fairs downtown, Folkmoot, many people know each other.  

We do not eat out a lot. We love to grill out on the Hugh deck and enjoy the outside.  Some of the places in town that are good restaurants are Maggie's Galley, Bogart's, Blue Rooster, many other mom and pop restaurant downtown.    

The best grocery stores in the area are Ingles ( which has a Starbucks) and Super Walmart 4 to 6 miles from our home.  The is Food Lion within 5 minutes from our home and many others.   Health food store is downtown, Zoolies.  There is a GNC within 5 minutes.  Also a discount grocery store (Go Grocery) in the Waynesville Plaza.  

We are considered in canton area for schools which is very far from our home, we are much closer to schools In the Waynesville District which is where my children attend.    

We bought this property mainly because of the private neighborhood, dead end street, and restrictions.      

This area is in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Short drive to the parkway, we live in a very calm and beautiful area.  There is a Ski Resort, Historic Town Shopping, Lake Junaluska (which has walking trail around lake, public swimming pool, Tennis courts, putt putt, canoeing, paddle boats ) within 5 minutes from our home and we go there quite often. Hospital and Doctor offices are within 5 minutes too.  Many fitness centers in the area.  Asheville within 30 minutes with 2 Malls and lots of restaurants. 

The area is safe to raise a family.  People are friendly here and willing to help others.    We love to exercise outside and at fitness centers.  There are many community things that go on in this area.  Craft fairs and folkmoot, Many races in the area.     

I love the neighborhood I live in and would love to stay, unfortunately we have to move due to job relocation, I have lived in this neighborhood for 17 years.  The neighborhood has an HOA, mainly for road maintainance.  Snow and debris removal happens fairly fast as needed so do not expect to miss any work due to weather conditions.  We have an annual Yard Sale and Picnic for meeting new neighbors or just having fun with old ones.  There is very. Low traffic so you can feel comfortable about letting children play outside.  neighbors are friendly and take care of each other.


  1. Whoever buys this home will get a well built and maintained home. In 1997 we built this home and know everything about it, I wish we could just take it with us.
    It is very spacious and comfortable. Our neighbors can verify how much pride we take in our home. I have been told it is one of the nicest homes in the neighborhood. Come take a look!
