I love living in Leicester for many reasons. First of all, Leicester offers beautiful mountain views. The ride to and from Asheville is amazing year-round. We enjoy watching the leaves change in Fall and Spring, and we enjoy seeing the snow capped mountains in the winter. I love the ʺcountry feelʺ of passing working farms while coming home each day. You get great views and a pastoral setting just 20 minutes from downtown. I think it's the best of both worlds.

A great convenience of living is Leicester is having several good locally owned restaurants that are only 10 minutes away. Papa's has great pizza and subs, and we love Eddie's BBQ Shack! The local Mexican restaurant has a great salsa bar. We enjoy the convenience of these restaurants and we love the fact that they are locally owned.

Now that I have become accustomed to shopping at Ingles, I no longer want to get my groceries anywhere else. They have great produce, a great bakery, a nice variety of organic/specialty items, and a surprisingly good selection of health and beauty items. Walgreens is located on the corner across from Ingles, 10 minutes from the house. I love having a Walgreen's so close!

When we bought this property we were drawn to the size and the lay of the lot. Many times a sacrifice is made between long range views and usable land. With this property you get the best of both worlds. You get short and long range views and a large flat yard. We were also drawn to the amenities of this neighborhood. We enjoy the private pool and the gated entrances.

The Asheville area is amazing. There is so much to do here from shopping, to endless outdoor activities, to admiring historical sites and fine arts, and of course there is the food scene. Asheville is full of independent restaurants and micro-breweries.

There is no shortage of things to do in Asheville, but we love going to the lake! There are many lakes within a short drive to Asheville. For quick trips we go to Lake James in Rutherford County. We can be there in an hour. For weekend getaways we enjoy the hour and a half ride to Lake Keowee in Seneca, South Carolina.

Asheville is a great place to entertain out-of-town guests. There are so many places/activities for people to see/do. The Biltmore Estate and Grove Park Inn offer great accommodations, food, and history. Biltmore Village offers sophisticated shopping. Guests can also enjoy a peaceful drive and picnic on the Blue Ridge Parkway. From a geographical standpoint, this location is great. Driving 4 hours can get you to Atlanta, or the beach. A two hour drive can get you to Charlotte.

While everyone has different interests, one thing we enjoy is hiking. There are too many trails to name, but one of our favorite outdoor areas is the Davidson River Area. This is where the Cradle of Forestry, Looking Glass Falls, and Sliding Rock are located. It is only 45 minutes away. We also enjoy walking/jogging. The neighborhood has several steep hills and very little traffic, so it is a great place to walk/run.

Our neighborhood is a great mix of ages and families. We have retirees and families with young children. The Ridge is a small, quiet, and friendly neighborhood. Our neighbors smile and waive, and sometimes stop to chat when passing by the house.
