Views, Views, Views! Come build your mountain escape in WNC! So close to Lake Lure, So close to Skiing and hiking. A great location to get away from it all. Great building site in this wonderful mountain community. This property has many layered long range views and the building site has already been cleared. Beautiful curved drive in to approach the property creates great privacy.

"Seller Says"

The things we love about the Old Fort and Black Mountain areas are the fact that they are quaint little mountain towns with great little shops of all kinds , such as crafts, potteries, an old fashioned hardware store and a great kitchen shop. The towns are very clean and the folks who live and work there are kind and friendly.

Black Mountain offers a variety of great eateries for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The Bistro, My Fathers Pizza, and The Red Rocker Inn to name a few are some of our favorites. There are also numerous other restaurants and sandwich shops equally as good. Most of the restaurants serve trout which is a favorite of mine. Asheville, which is close by has numerous restaurants also for those who love food.

There are two major grocery stores in the area which are very accessible along with various pharmacies, gas stations, a new Tractor Supply Store, one of my favorites, and best of all, Black Mountain has a fabulous fly fishing shop.

We purchased our property on Gateway due to the vastness of the area, the fact it is a nature preserve, abundant with wildlife, hiking trails and the pure beauty of it. I fell in love with the short and long range views from the lot to the south, west, and north. The sun rises early over the mountain which we also like.

Western North Carolina has some of the best trout fishing streams if you enjoy fly fishing, hiking trails for both the amateur and most serious hikers. There is an abundance of waterways for canoeing, kayaking or just enjoying the numbers waterfalls in the area. A ride up the Blueridge Parkway with a stop for lunch or dinner at the Pisgah Inn is always a nice afternoon. My wife and I love the great outdoors, hiking, kayaking, fishing and most of all nature and wildlife. The Western North Carolina Mountains has it all, some areas over commercialized but Gateway Mountain isn't at all, It's totally natural.

We really enjoy the variety of shops the area has to offer and the many different restaurants in the areas around Gateway. Gateway Mountain has easy access to the towns of Old Fort, Black Mountain, Asheville, Hendersonville and many others. Gateway Mountain is located in the middle of it all and still maintains a peaceful, natural, and friendly place to live. We enjoy horseback riding, of which there are many local stables, some in the Pisgah Forest, which is fun. Mount Mitchell is a great place to go hiking.

Gateway Mountain is a very serene, peaceful, natural habitat with all types of wildlife from chipmunks to black bears on occasion. The road system consists of mountain roads, some paved, some gravel but all are well maintained.
The Property Owners Association periodically have picnics at the lake or other picnic areas on the mountain where the residents bring some of their favorite recipes to share with the other mountain residents. The folks who currently live on the mountain whom we have met have been very friendly and helpful.
During the fall and winter months some of the residents who live there full time have an ""open house happy hour"" which moves from one resident home to another. The folks on the mountain are always willing to help out the less fortunate residents in the local towns.
