Wonderful country setting with a creek on two acres, convenient to shopping with an easy 20 minute commute to downtown Asheville. Large master retreat with walk-in closet and great master bath. Room to expand in the unfinished basement, with bath already wired/plumbed and separate entrance. Nicely landscaped. Level to gently rolling land. New roof in 2012.
"Seller Says"

The things I love about Marshall and Mars Hill, NC are that while the beautiful country settings and low taxes are due to living outside of the city limits, we are just a short drive to Asheville, NC which is home to a vibrant downtown scene and incredible architectural and historical landmarks. Weaverville, NC is just minutes away, providing fun up and coming restaurants and independent businesses as well as national retailers! Marshall is about 1 mile from Mars Hill University and Mars Hill Elementary School and from early spring into the late fall you can catch weekend tailgate markets, festivals and fun family weekend entertainment! I love living so close to Mars Hill and its small town lifestyle.  People know who you are and they are very friendly.  Its really neat to have a college in a small town too because there are festivals, sporting events, and cultural opportunities you won't get anywhere else!

We love to eat at the following restaurants: Papa Nick's, El Dorado, The Cork & Crown, Blue Mountain Pizza, Main Street Grill, Stoney Knob Café and the Glass Onion
If you want even more choices you can be in Weaverville in less than ten minutes!

Major retailer grocery stores are right down the main highway from our home. The Ingles in Mars Hill is less than 5 years old. It is a bigger Ingles with a big deal bakery.  The made to order deli subs are delicious! Be sure to get in Anne's line at the check out because she always has a smile and a laugh to share!

When we bought the property we were drawn to the incredible landscape around us. Beautiful rolling pasture lands, lush green grass and trees and the major possibilities of owning a home on 2 acres of land. We loved the fresh spring creek running through the property and the massive basement and garage. Also, it was so close to Weaverville and Asheville, it couldn't be beat.
When we bought the property I was drawn to the beauty of our little valley but the longer I lived there the more I appreciated the tranquility and the connection to nature.  It's awesome to look out your window and see deer or turkey!

The Marshall area has a warm hometown feel but is right outside the Asheville city and Buncombe County limits, so we loved that the area provided a relief from city living but the comforts of city life and work weren't too far away. The incredible mountain views aren't too bad, either!

A few other things I can mention: The University regularly has art events and hosts holiday parties and events for families. The Outdoor enthusiast would love the kayaking, hiking and walking/jogging possibilities. Nice libraries nearby and public pool for summer fun. We get a decent snowfall annually, not enough to be hazardous, simply beautiful. We really enjoy the family events and tailgate markets offered at Mars Hill University and the Marshall festivals on the island. We love to hike in our own backyard and relax while watching the cows and horses graze near by. You can hike, fish, tube, whitewater raft, camp, hunt and a lot more without ever being far from your own home!

Personally, I enjoy the weekend tailgate markets! You can get a really awesome variety of fresh foods and other handmade goods. The Mars Hill Market is on Saturday and the Marshall market is on Sunday.
Our neighborhood is great for small and large farming operations and the friendly, laid back atmosphere lends itself to relaxing after a busy week of work and school.

A lot of our neighbors are related because we bought the house from the family member who built it. They are really nice folks.  If you need something just ask and chances are if they can't help you they know someone who can.  Don't be surprised if someone from down the road pulls in the driveway to chat for a few minutes. That's just country living!

  8. Tons of light into this home makes it feel open and roomy. The acreage is also a huge plus, especially when the land is usable and scenic
