The thing I love about Hendersonville is the small town feel, with a great downtown for walking, and larger cities nearby. Asheville, Greenville and Charlotte are all close enough for an afternoon or day trip. There are outstanding restaurants in the area: more than one might think for a small town! Umi for Japanese, Papas and Beer for Mexican, Thai Spice on Main Street for Thai, China Garden for Chinese, Moe's BBQ, plus many other great places.

Fresh Market is a great upscale grocery, with a large deli and wine selection and many fine foods. Harris Teeter is large, and very nice, and Ingles has Starbucks right inside.

When we bought the property we were drawn to the large living spaces inside, with high-end finishing touches, and the large, professionally landscaped yard. The house is private, up on a rise from the road, with a large circular driveway and 2nd driveway back to the garage area.

Western North Carolina is wonderful, with dramatic natural beauty everywhere you look. We are minutes from gorgeous waterfalls for wading or swimming, National Parks for more of the same, and hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails. A few other things I can mention are the friendly people, quiet living and fun downtown summer events.

The Apple Festival is great each fall, there's Music on Main Street each summer, and we have the Flat Rock Theater, the State Theater of North Carolina, right here in town.

We enjoy hiking, swimming and eating out, all of which are plentiful in this area. Many people play golf at any of the several local courses.

Crooked Creek is the best kept secret in Hendersonville, a beautiful piece of land with each house unique. There is a lake, a creek and a community park. And the Crooked Creek Golf Course! Many neighbors have golf carts for evening rides or to and from the golf course. There is only one way in and out of the neighborhood, which keeps traffic to a minimum.

  1. Great landscaping and brick! Circular driveway. Master bedroom suite with lots of built ins. Bedrooms galore, and a sunroom to take in the outdoors. Just 10 minutes from downtown Hendersonville and half an hour from Asheville. Great for those who travel south a lot. Double garage and a partially finished lower level. Great storage throughout.

  5. Immediately, I thought of Bachelard's The Poetics of Space: the classic look at how we experience intimate places. How aesthetics and spatial relationships in an environment can shape our thoughts, memories, and dreams... i.e.- the inhabitants life. Definitely a beautiful lively home to live in for quite sometime.

  6. I love the mountain laurel in the front and the mature landscaping and trees...as a father of an 8 and 10 year old, I also appreciate the gentle slope to the land. The best life is an elevated one in the mountains, but on a plot with usable ground and this one delivers it!
